Seems that many public sector organisations are still not publishing their completed equality impact assessments.
Is this ever going to be enforced?
Are they just waiting to see how the Equality Act will be implemented?

The Equality Act is aimed at unifying the legislation. Equality outcomes will still need to be addressed and therefore if organisations have in place the EIA process this should be an easy transition to carry on under the Act.
The real issue is about a commitment to mainstreaming equalities which should be in place now and not to use the introduction of new legislation or cuts as an excuse not to fulfill their obligations under equality duties.

I do not think that mainstreaming of equalities has really happened at all. Most organisations we work with still see the equalities function as a peripheral activity whose job is the try and influence the mainstream to comply.
We are working with some clients who are more advanced and have withdrawn equalities support from front line functions to stimulate mainstreaming.
